An inmate who has been on the run since escaping from a work team last Friday was captured today in Cleveland County.
N.C. Department of Corrections officials say James Norris was found around midday in Fallston, a town north of Shelby. Keith Acree, a spokesman for the corrections department, said a telephone tip from the public led corrections officers to the area.

Norris will appear before a Cleveland County magistrate this afternoon on charges related to the escape.
Prison officials say Norris walked away from a prison work team five days ago in Shelby. He was working on an assignment at the N.C. Department of Transportation yard.
Norris had been a minimum security inmate at the Rutherford Correctional Center in Spindale. He was serving an eight-month sentence for drug possession.
