Drive-by shooting injures 1

A man was injured overnight in a drive-by shooting in the Grier Heights community of southeast Charlotte.

Police say it happened about 1 a.m. in the 3500 block of Burkland Avenue. According to police reports, a man was standing in the parking lot of the Vantage 78 apartments, when a vehicle drove by, and someone fired a shot.

The victim was shot in the leg and taken to Carolinas Medical Center. His injuries are not life-threatening, police say.

Nobody has been arrested in the case.
