Traffic is being rerouted off U.S. 74 in Union County because of a broken natural gas line west of Monroe.

The broken line is at U.S. 74 and Wesley Chapel-Stouts Road. The N.C. Department of Transportation said the line was broken about 8:15 a.m., and it could be 10 to 10:30 a.m. before repairs are completed. U.S. 74 and Wesley Chapel-Stouts Road both are closed.
