Bell has started for Butler since he was a freshman. Butler coach Mike Newsome said college coaches were asking about recruiting him then. Newsome told them they'd have to wait. Bell is strong, aggressive to the ball and will also play running back this year.

COLLEGES: “South Carolina, North Carolina, N.C. State and Virginia Tech. It's wide open.”

FAVORITE PRO ATHLETE: “Ray Lewis. I love the way he gets to the ball with his intensity. I watch his highlights on YouTube before every game to get ready to play. It gives me inspiration.”

DREAM RIDE: “I'm a Southern boy so probably a Chevy Caprice.”

BEST SPORTS MEMORY: “I was in middle school for Mint Hill and we played Albemarle Road. We did a reverse up the middle. I went up the middle and did my spin, juked two people and scored. That was the best moment of my life. I didn't know I could do that.”

WHAT PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU: “I love to eat. I love to lift weights. I love football. Football's my life, but I like buying model cars and fixing them up. It gives me something to do. I get low riders and sports cars. I love sports cars.”

MOST EMBARRASING MOMENT: “My freshman year I came here and didn't know anybody. Coach asked me a question about (hash marks). In middle school they didn't teach us anything about hashes. I was looking at Coach stupid and all the seniors and juniors looking at me like I was kind of slow, so my first impression with the team was kind of embarrassing.”

SECRET ATHLETIC DREAM: “To play safety. I want to catch a wide receiver coming across the middle just one good time.”

6-3, 218, senior, linebacker/tight end

Windle is ranked as the nation's No. 29 linebacker by Scout.com . He'll also play tight end for the Cougars. He Windle has made the state championship game in each of his high school seasons. so far. He wants a fourth shot this year – and another title ring.

FAVORITE PRO ATHLETE: “Chris Long. He's a UVa guy and he goes hard all the time.”

Hunter is a late bloomer with legitimate 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash. Some college coaches believe he's the best overall athletes in Mecklenburg County this season.

COLLEGES: “Miami, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Florida, Duke, Colorado, Marshall, East Carolina and N.C. State.”

Cockrell has gotten a lot bigger in the offseason. He's also an accomplished wide receiver and a regular on Latin's boys basketball team.

Major college recruited Tight end and linebacker recruited by major colleges has great size and good speed. He's helped Charlotte's newest high school become a player fast.

FAVORITE PRO ATHLETE: “Steve Smith.”

DREAM RIDE: “Lamborghini.”

BEST SPORTS MEMORY: “Game-winning catch against Myers Park at home. It was 54-yard catch last year. It was homecoming and we were up and they came back and everybody was getting down. It came out of nowhere.”

WHAT PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU: “I didn't start playing football until eighth grade. Day before tryouts I decided to try. I had injured my knee before that. I have played baseball since I was 3.”

MOST EMBARRASING MOMENT: “Against Butler, same play we won against Myers Park. I was wide open and dropped the ball. I started running before I got it. I made up for it in the Myers Park game.”

Other than his baby face, Simmons looks like a senior college prospect. His coach, Aaron Brand, says Simmons has all the skills to be great.

COLLEGES: Not being recruited yet because of due to his age.

FAVORITE PRO ATHLETE: “Adrian Peterson. He runs like I like to run. He's a powerful back and I consider myself a powerful back, too.”

DREAM RIDE: “Any kind of Porsche, but I'm not driving yet.”

BEST SPORTS MEMORY: “When I was 5, in Pee Wee league, I ran somebody over in the end zone to score for the first time. I ran to my daddy and gave him a big hug.”

WHAT PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU: “I love my offensive line. I'm a caring person and when I was a kid, I would scoot around on the floor all the time, so my dad started calling me ‘Scoot.'“
