You can tune in to Union County's educational TV (Channel 16 on Time Warner Cable) to learn more about candidates for the N.C. Court of Appeals and the state Supreme Court.
Union's Chief District Court Judge Chris Bragg decided to interview the candidates, who are usually not well known to voters, for his “This is Your Court” program.
“Sometimes it's extremely hard to learn about candidates for statewide judicial offices,” Bragg says. “I thought it would be good to see them talking on TV.” Bragg may be the first district judge in the state to do similar interviews.
Bragg says 12 candidates for statewide judicial office came to Union County for 10-minute interviews. Each was asked the same questions.
“For the candidates, it was a chance to be seen” by more than 100,000 cable viewers, Bragg said.
The interviews will be aired through the Nov. 4 General Election.
Schedules for interviews may change weekly. Today through Tuesday, they will be aired at 7 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
The program schedule is available on Union County's Web site, www.co.union.nc.us.
