Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a suspect for the murder of an east Charlotte woman who was reported missing by her daughter in August.
The suspect, Alan D. Simpson, 38, lived in the neighborhood of victim Cindy Williams, 49, who resided in the 5000 block of Clearmont Avenue, near Albemarle Road, officials said. Williams was last seen leaving the home on Aug. 4, and was reported missing days later. Investigators say witnesses heard an argument and gun shots from Williams home on Aug 4. Among the witnesses was one who claimed to have gone to the home to ask about Williams' welfare, and was met at the door by Simpson, who claimed nothing was wrong, police said.
