Kenya native James Kinyanjui will host a benefit dinner Saturday at 6 p.m. in Matthews for the I Heard the Cry non-profit group.
The group is working to raise awareness of post election violence and suffering in Kenya, and will be celebrating the launch of its Web site, www.iheardthecry.com.
Another group cofounder is Sheg Aranmolate, of Nashville, Tenn., who was a contestant in Oprah's “Big Give.”
The dinner is at Dino's Restaurant, 1031 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Aranmolate will be the keynote speaker. Tickets, which cost $20, and details are available online at www.iheardthecry.com.
