Rush hour traffic around SouthPark mall was backed up for miles after a propane tank rolled down an embankment, hitting power lines.
The wreck, which involved at least one other car, happened near Park Road and Tyvola/Fairview Road just after rush hour began. But officers were diverting traffic several blocks away and encouraging people to avoid the area.
Traffic was flowing through the intersection, but the involved roads were still heavily congested.
At least one person was injured, but it was unclear to what extent. Firefighters said at least one person was trapped in a car. NewsChannel 36, the Observer's news partner, reported that power lines had landed over one car.
