A maintenance man was shot in the face and arm during a dispute at an Alexander county motel late Sunday, and a Taylorsville man was charged, according to the Taylorsville Police Department.
Anthony Gregory, 37, was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony possession of cocaine, according to a news release from the Police Department.
The incident began about midnight Sunday, when police were called to an unidentified Taylorsville motel. The motel manager went to one of the rooms because of a disturbance and found the occupants of the room and their guest trying to force the door open, the release said. The manager argued with the occupants and then called the maintenance man to fix the door. Another argument ensured, and the maintenance man was shot.
Gregory left the motel but was arrested a short time later, the release said.
The victim, who was not identified, was in fair condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, the release said. He was jailed on $300,000 bond. Another man, Jerry Leon Flowers, 45, of Taylorsville, was charged with accessory after the fact and felony possession of cocaine and was jailed on $78,000 bond.
