Pow Wow drums up color

Dances, drums, food and fun were all part of the 25th annual Indian Trail Pow Wow held last weekend at Indian Trail Elementary School.

Sponsored by the Metrolina Native American Association, the gathering draws native Americans from across the Carolinas and the nation to celebrate their history and culture. It also recalls Indian Trail's history as a trading path for early settlers and native Americans.

Ira Whitebreast (above) of Tama, Iowa, was one of many who wore colorful and intricate dress.

Josh Richardson (below) of Hollister sings with the Thunder Boys group.
