Winghaven 'Time to Garden'

Let your kids play in the dirt at Winghaven's "A Time to Garden." Winghaven is a four-acre garden tucked into Myers Park, replete with enchanting fountains and sculptures. On Aug. 4 and 11, Winghaven welcomes children 10 a.m. to noon to water plants, mulch, make crafts, hear stories and drink lemonade in the Children's Garden. The kids can then go on a scavenger hunt throughout the entire garden.

Catawba Queen cruise

Take a one-hour storytime cruise around Lake Norman on the Catawba Queen. While listening to stories and munching on cookies and milk, kids can also scan the waters for "Normie," Lake Norman's legendary "monster."

Every Tuesday and Thursday through Aug. 24. Board at 8:30 a.m., leave at 9 a.m. $8 adult, $5 child.
