2010 Clemson: A Closer Look

Last season: 9-5 overall, 6-2 ACC (1st place Atlantic Division)

Key returning players: QB Kyle Parker, So; OT Chris Hairston, Sr; S DeAndre McDaniel, Sr.

Breakout player to watch: WR Xavier Dye, Sr.

Best case scenario: With Parker putting pro baseball on hold, the Tigers have the chance to be very good. They need to find a couple of receivers and solidify their linebackers, the most glaring questions. Starting Sept. 18, Clemson will play at Auburn, home to Miami then at North Carolina, a stretch that might define the season.

Worst-case scenario: If something should happen to Parker, the Tigers will have serious issues. Also, if he can’t find reliable receivers, opponents can focus on running backs Jamie Parker and Andre Ellington and limit the ground game. Going 0-3 against Auburn, Miami and North Carolina could be devastating.
