Drama team awards: Charlotte Christian upper school students on the ACT 1 drama team won six awards at the N.C. Theatre Competition High School Play Festival held Oct. 29-30 at Grimsley High School in Greensboro. The team's production of "Into the Woods, Jr." will also advance to the state competition Nov. 18-19 at Greensboro College. The ACT 1 students won the following awards: Claire Hilton, Excellence in Acting; Polly Hilton, Excellence in Acting; Michelle Long, Excellence in Directing, and the Technical Management Award and the Distinguished Play Award for "Into the Woods, Jr."

Musician honored: Five students were selected to participate in the Eastern Kentucky University Honors Band held Nov. 13. The following Charlotte Christian musicians were selected: Harrison Hamer, Alex Watkins, Addison Weaver, Sydney Weaver and Abby Yoh.

Art award: Junior Kevin Ramsey won the Independent High School Grand Prize in the Carolinas Freedom Foundation Patriotic Art Competition for his work titled "The Face of Courage." Ramsey received the honor at the US Airways Freedom Breakfast held Nov. 5 at the Blake Hotel.

State honors: Seven Upper School music students have been chosen for state-level honors. Senior Brian Lax was selected for the N.C. Honors Chorus. Sophomore Grace Lowe was selected for the N.C. High School All-State Honors Orchestra. The following students also were selected for NCAIS All-State Honors Band: Simon Menaker, alto sax; Kate Player, oboe; Alex Sanz alto sax, alternate; Louis Tonon, horn; and Andrew Zuehlke, trumpet.
