After the birth of her daughter, Diane Cevallos found it hard to balance motherhood and her passion for yoga. Practicing yoga for a decade and teaching it for five, she wanted to open a yoga center focused around the importance of helping families overcome the challenges she faced. Now, she is the owner of Charlotte Family Yoga Center, with a mission to assist children, families and the community live a healthy, balanced lifestyle through yoga. The center caters to all ages and has over 20 different classes, including donation classes to support war veterans and the fight against cancer.

How is yoga beneficial to living a healthy life? Yoga primarily helps to relax your body and mind. With a regular practice of yoga it will help you to sleep better, wake up refreshed and to feel an overall sense of well-being. A wonderful side effect of this will be the ability to deal with stress and find peace.

How is Charlotte Family Yoga getting all ages involved with yoga? We are very excited that parents can choose to practice yoga together with their children at our Sunday Family Yoga class. Post-natal Mommy And Me classes starts at 6 weeks old, Mommy/Daddy and Me classes start at 5 months old or children can attend their own class starting at age 4 while mom and dad practice in the next room. On Wednesday, we have a special class called Serenity Yoga catered for the older students.

Your personal focus with yoga is on expectant mothers. How is yoga beneficial for pregnancy? Yoga provides pregnant women with many benefits, including stretching and release of muscular tension associated with pregnancy. Yoga during pregnancy can help teach how to breathe and relax in preparation for labor, and help you meet the physical and mental demands required of motherhood. We help women reconnect with their body’s innate wisdom about birth, and connect with other moms in a safe, open community that encourages them to freely discuss their concerns, joys, discomforts and the many wonders that their body and their baby are experiencing. Charlotte Family Yoga Center is at 10215 Prosperity Park Drive, Suite 210. 704-992-1145.
