New pickup route: Beginning today, Community House Middle School will open its parking lot for student pickup instead of only half of the lot. The change is the result of the school's meeting with Charlotte Department of Transportation officials concerning the effects future construction on Community House Road will have on school traffic. Christmas tree pickup: Town public works employees will pick up Christmas trees left on the curb through Jan. 7. Open Hearth Cooking: President James K. Polk State Historic Site will host Open Hearth Cooking with the Catawba Valley Cooking Guild.
