Tax revaluation: District 7 City Council representative Warren Cooksey and the Ballantyne Breakfast Club will hold a meeting to discuss the property revaluation 7 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge, 10000 Ballantyne Commons Parkway. This meeting is open to the public. Chuck Hicks, the leader of Mecklenburg County's evaluation team, will lead the meeting. Hicks will discuss the revaluation process and how property owners in Ballantyne will be affected by the county's tax changes. Details:


Support meeting: South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church will host a job seekers support meeting 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at the church, 8601 Bryant Farms Road. The meeting, "The Job Search A-Z," will be led by career coach Gwen Ferguson. This meeting is open to the public. Child care will be provided but children must be signed up in advance: 704-496-4652.


Box tops: Pineville Elementary received a check for $1,039 from Box Tops for Education for the box tops collected during the school's fall drive. The school is asking parents to continue to donate their box tops during the winter drive, which began in January. Parents can glue or tape box tops to the collection sheets provided by the school. The collection sheets will be sent to Box Tops for Education on April 15. For parents looking for extra box tops, Food Lion will give away 20 bonus box tops with five box top purchases.
