Police arrested a Cabarrus County man late Thursday who had been charged with two counts of first-degree rape. Police did not release the age of the victim but said the crimes occurred over a two-year period.
Officers apprehended David Matthew Hallman, 40, without incident after stopping a car in which Hallman was a passenger near the intersection of Jim Sossoman and Bethel Church roads in the Midland area of Cabarrus County.
Police had been searching for Hallman since Wednesday and credited news coverage with producing tips to his whereabouts.
According to the N.C. Department of Correction, Hallman was convicted of felony larceny in 1987, credit card fraud in 2001 and obtaining property by false pretenses in 2002.
