Police have arrested a third suspect in last week's shooting death of a 20-year-old in west Charlotte.
On Tuesday afternoon, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police apprehended James Russell Andrews II. The 17-year-old is charged with murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, according to police.
On Aug. 23, police responded to a report of a shooting at a vacant house on Columbus Circle. There, officers found Caleb Copenhaver with at least one gunshot wound. He later died at Carolinas Medical Center.
Arrest records show Andrews has previously been arrested three times in Mecklenburg County since 2010. The week before the fatal shooting, he was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault.
Last week, police arrested Campton Conway Wolfe, 24, and Cornell Blackwell, 18. Each is charged with murder and armed robbery and conspiracy in connection with Copenhaver's death.
Police said last week that the shooting was not random.
