A man’s body was discovered floating on Lake Norman on Thursday morning, and authorities said they are investigating to determine whether foul play may have been involved in his death.
Around 10:30 a.m., an employee at The Boat Rack, a marina off Slanting Bridge Road in Sherrills Ford, called authorities to report a body spotted in the water.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, along with Sherrills Ford firefighters, arrived to investigate and discovered a man floating about 25 feet from the shoreline, said Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid.
The man had no apparent trauma on his body, Reid said.

Reid said the man had rented a spot to store his boat Wednesday night at The Boat Rack. His boat was still there when authorities found his body.
The victim is a man in his 50s, authorities said, but his name has not yet been released as authorities try to contact his family.
