A 71-year-old woman was seriously injured Thursday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in northeast Charlotte, authorities said.
The incident happened about 12:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of Milton Road, near North Sharon Amity Road.
A spokeswoman for Medic said the victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with injuries that were described as life-threatening.
Police said the woman, whose name has not yet been released, was not in a crosswalk when she was struck by the car. She was apparently walking to a nearby drug store.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
Charlotte firefighters said people driving in the area should expect delays as police investigate.
