A 15-year-old Butler High student was hit by a car while crossing N.C. 51 outside the Matthews school this afternoon.
The student was taken by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center-Main, said Randy Hagler, deputy chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Police Department. MEDIC described the injuries as life-threatening.
It is the third serious pedestrian accident outside a Charlotte-Mecklenburg high school this month.
Last week Brittany Palmer, 18, died after being hit by a car while crossing Eastway Drive outside Garinger High. A West Charlotte High student was critically injured on a street near that school.
