OrthoCarolina Opens New Urgent Care Facilities

If you’ve been to an emergency room, you probably know that those visits can be quite expensive. What you may not know, however, is that many ER trips could actually be serviced at an Urgent Care facility. OrthoCarolina’s orthopedic Urgent Cares (OUCs) specialize in orthopedics, including the musculoskeletal system, bone issues and joint problems.

These are some of the top reasons that our patients have shared with us why they chose to visit an OUC:

(1) They are able to see a provider without an appointment, after normal business hours and on weekends.

(2) They receive better, faster care, at a lesser cost than an ER.

(3) The quality of treatment, providers, and state-of-the-art equipment are on par with a normal visit to an OrthoCarolina office.

(4) OrthoCarolina’s OUCs are open 7 days a week, including evening weekday hours and daytime weekend hours, at locations across the Charlotte region.

There are other benefits as well. OrthoCarolina Director of Physician Assistants Timothy Pysell explains: “If you go to the ER, you will most likely be told to follow up with your family doctor. If you go to your family doctor, you may eventually be referred to an orthopedist. If you choose an OUC, most often you will be seeing the same providers who care for patients in our sub-specialty and general orthopedic surgery offices and you can get connected directly to the OrthoCarolina appointment system if you need a follow-up appointment. And there will be no transferring medical records, no requesting X-rays or CT scans; all of your medical records from OrthoCarolina’s OUCs are part of the same permanent electronic medical record system used in all of our offices and will be at your provider’s fingertips when you follow up in one of our offices.”

Staffed by board-certified orthopedic surgeons and licensed Physician Assistants, OUCs treat all ages and orthopedic conditions including strains, sprains, minor dislocations, painful, swollen or injured joints of the ankle, back, elbow, foot, hand, hip, knee, neck, and shoulder, pediatric injuries, cast and wound dressing issues, sports Injuries, lacerations, postsurgical pain and more.

OrthoCarolina recently opened their newest orthopedic Urgent Care center in Monroe. With six locations across the Charlotte, North Carolina region including Ballantyne, Concord, Matthews, Monroe, University and Uptown, Urgent Care is an efficient, economical option for patients who need immediate and oftentimes unexpected treatment. When an acute injury happens and immediate treatment is necessary, OrthoCarolina Urgent Care provides fast, high-quality, accessible care for all kinds of patient needs in emergency orthopedic situations.
