SEC Network coming to regional cable systems Comporium and TruVista

The SEC Network, aired by ESPN, will be available to Comporium and TruVista subscribers.

Negotiations between the National Cable Television Cooperative and ESPN/Disney were recently finalized for all programming.

Comporium will offer The SEC Network on cable Channels 284 and 1284 (HD) when the new channel launches on Aug. 14. The first live regular-season football game is 6 p.m. Aug 28 when Texas A&M visits South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium.

No pricing information for cable subscribers was available Friday.

The agreement between the cooperative and ESPN-Disney sets the pricing that each cable TV operator must pay to carry each of ESPN/Disney’s channels, as well as provide the rights to new content.

In addition to The SEC Network, the contract also provides Comporium with the ability to offer on-demand programming and online streaming video content via WatchESPN and WATCH Disney.

The SEC Network plans to broadcast football games featuring all of the conference’s members within the first month of the season.

The SEC Network will air events 24/7 across the 21 sports that the conference sponsors.

Yearly, the network will broadcast approximately 45 football games, 100 men’s basketball games, 60 women’s basketball games, 75 baseball games and 50 softball games.

For football, The SEC Network plans to air three Saturday games per week in early, afternoon and evening windows. The new network also will show classic games, live events and original studio programming.

The SEC Network recently announced deals with Time-Warner, Comcast and Bright House cable systems.
