Joey Logano pulled away in the last 20 laps to take the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and thus guarantee he’ll advance to the next round of the Sprint Cup Chase.
Rookie Kyle Larson finished second with Kevin Harvick coming in third. Jamie McMurray, who is not among the 16 Chase drivers, finished fourth and Jimmie Johnson was fifth.
This race set a Sprint Cup season record for cautions with 15.
The second half of the race was marked by numerous crashes involving a handful of the 16 Chase drivers. Denny Hamlin got the worst of it, going down 36 laps between a wreck and an earlier fuel-probe problem.

But he wasn’t alone in busted-up cars among Chase competitors. Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Kyle and Kurt Busch, Kasey Kahne and Brad Keselowski all suffered damage over the second half of the 300-lap race.
The next race in Dover will trim four drivers from the Chase, so avoiding trouble in New Hampshire was at a premium. That pressure was off Keselowski. Since he won the first Chase race in Chicagoland, he already has advanced to the next round.
