Registration is underway for the 26th annual Lights of the Lake holiday boat parade Dec. 13 on Lake Wylie, and organizers plan to add a new feature.
The annual event is sponsored by the Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce and presented by T-Bones on the Lake, McSpadden Custom Homes and the Lake Wylie Pilot.
With the cooperation of several area churches, the chamber plans to expand the event to include an outdoor, family friendly celebration.
The new event, Christmas by the Lake, will be a chance to gather together in Lake Wylie and celebrate the season with families, friends and neighbors, said Boat parade chairman Doug McSpadden.

Christmas by the Lake will include warming huts with free cocoa and hot cider, Christmas music, a luminaria release to kick off the boat parade and a visit from a special guest.
Food and monetary donations will be accepted by the Clover Area Assistance Center, which serves needy families in the Clover school district.
In addition, unwrapped toys for children of all ages will be accepted for Santa’s Sleigh in the chamber’s warming hut.
“This is an opportunity for local families to give canned goods and unwrapped toys to help others while enjoying the holiday event,” said chamber president Susan Bromfield. “It is the season of giving.”
The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Buster Boyd Bridge at T-Bones. A captains meeting will be at 6 p.m.
An entry form and a check for $20 should be sent to Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 5233, Lake Wylie SC 29710.
Registration deadline is Thursday, Dec. 11. Late and same-day registration is $25. For more details, call the Lake Wylie chamber at 803-831-2827 or email email@example.com.
