Several animals saved from Kannapolis school fire

Several animals were saved after a fire broke out at a Cabarrus County school building Tuesday night.

The fire broke out at the Agricultural Building at Northwest Cabarrus High School, which is on the 5100 block of Cabarrus Drive in Kannapolis around 8:15 p.m. The fire then spread to several buildings, including the school's greenhouse.

According to firefighters, two chinchillas, two guinea pigs and a hamster were rescued from one of the buildings.

Investigators have not said what may have caused the fire.
