York County residents seeking help to provide their children with Christmas toys may begin applying for assistance on Friday.
Holiday Partners combines the efforts of the United Way, WRHI radio, and The Herald and its sister weekly newspapers to provide Christmas toys for those in need. Each year, WRHI sponsors the Toys for Happiness campaign, and The Herald sponsors the Empty Stocking Fund. The companies work with the United Way to ensure as many families as possible receive holiday assistance.
To sign up for assistance, applicants are asked to bring a photo ID and proof of income. They also are asked to bring a DSS family printout or a Social Security card for the parent or guardian and a Social Security card as well as a birth certificate for each eligible child. Toys are available for children ages 14 and younger.
