Traffic light operational near Buster Boyd Bridge

Lighting the traffic signal on Charlotte Highway near Buster Boyd Bridge at Blucher Circle was waiting on the weather. On Monday, the light was lit.

Crews were putting the finishing touches of permanent pavement markings on Blucher Circle as the new traffic light flashed red in front of T-Bones, and yellow for Charlotte Highway traffic.

Danny Carns, traffic engineer with the South Carolina Department of Transportation, said the signal was ready to go electrically, but the permanent pavement markings still needed to be finished. The problem was weather. The striping won’t adhere properly unless temperatures stay above 40 degrees for about three days.

Brian Rollar with York Development Group, which paid for the signal to serve the Lakeside West shopping center, said two weeks ago “We’re just waiting for the weather to cooperate so we can put the thermo-striping down. That’s when SCDOT can come down and do the inspections.”
