Catawba County funeral director featured in Times Square for national campaign
Daniel McGee, funeral director, preplanning counselor and certified celebrant with Bennett Funeral Service in Newton, was recently featured in New York City's Times Square as part of a national campaign recognizing the work of funeral professionals.
McGee appeared in Chptr's "The First Call" campaign, a public recognition initiative highlighting the role funeral directors play in guiding families through loss and supporting communities in life's most difficult moments, according to a news release.
Displayed on digital billboards in the heart of Times Square, the campaign brought national visibility to a profession that often works quietly behind the scenes.
The name The First Call reflects a reality many families know well: after the death of a loved one, funeral directors are often among the very first people families turn to for guidance, steadiness and care.
"This was never about seeing my face in Times Square. It was about seeing an entire profession recognized for the way it shows up with strength, compassion and steadiness when families need it most," said McGee.
Bennett Funeral Service has proudly served families throughout the Catawba Valley with a commitment to compassionate, personalized care. Being included in the campaign was an opportunity to represent both the profession and the local families who place their trust in funeral service each day, the release said.
Owner Robbie Bennett added, "We are incredibly proud of Daniel and the dedication he brings to every family he serves. He is a tremendous asset to our business and a true reflection of the values we strive to uphold each day."
The campaign was created by Chptr in partnership with the National Funeral Directors Association, Tribute Technology, and Homesteaders Life Company to honor funeral professionals across the country.
