Festival of Tables, the annual fundraiser for the Salvation Army’s programs that help women and children, made history this year. It raised the most money yet in the event’s 26-year history. Held at the Sheraton uptown, it attracted more than 500 guests who enjoyed an afternoon featuring a display of decorated tables, a silent auction and a luncheon.
The emcee was WCNC-TV anchor Sonja Gantt. Keynote speaker Joan Zimmerman, founder of Southern Shows, gave an inspiring talk, including her first experience as a Salvation Army supporter when she put some coins in a Salvation Army kettle when she was a child in her native England. Among all the beautifully decorated tables filled with creative ideas, Nadia Bartlett won first place for her table setting “Lunch at the Audubon Butterfly Garden in New Orleans.”
