You can see Charlotte-based Peruvian designer Luis Machicao’s work in an exhibit opening to the public Friday at the Latin American Contemporary Art (LaCa) Projects Gallery.
The show, LaCa Projects’ first design exhibition, is titled “Luis Machicao: Couture Retrospective,” and collects designs from 2009 to 2014. Commissioned to do the first lady of Peru’s clothes for much of the 1990s, he has also done some work for films.
The retrospective will run through Oct. 10. Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. weekdays and by appointment. LaCa Projects aims to present, develop and promote Latin American art and culture, and the gallery is part of a planned area that includes artist studios and a cafe: 1429 Bryant St.; www.lacaprojects.com; 704-837-1688.
