Myers Park-based Hilliard Studio Method – home to one of the most expensive (and from what I’ve heard from friends, one of the most difficult) group fitness classes in Charlotte – is expanding from its flagship studio to the Lake Norman area.
Beginning on Sept. 6, the mother-daughter team of Liz Hilliard and Clary Hilliard Gray will offer the “core-centric, Pilates-based workout” classes at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at Dance Davidson, 140 Jackson St., in Davidson.
Liz Hilliard, who created the trademarked class in 2007, has said that the high price ($27 per class) brings in a certain clientele – mostly women, and a lot of working women. To cater to professionals who travel, Hilliard offers online classes and DVDs available for purchase.
Hilliard calls HSM a “high energy, low-impact workout (that) incorporates weights and resistance training for a total body workout at any age or stage of life.”
Hilliard Studio Method offers more than 35 classes a week at their studio in Charlotte; among the trainers at Myers Park is elite swimmer Madison Kennedy.
