Carolina Bride

Anchors aweigh

North Carolina native Stacy Adams was visiting a friend in Florida when they went to an Irish pub for a girls’ night out. Fred Buckley, an officer in the Navy, was spending his night off the ship at the same pub. The two exchanged phone numbers and started dating, and, a year and a half later, Fred proposed to Stacy while they walked along the beach.Because of his work in the Navy, Fred was away for much of the wedding planning. Still, the couple managed to plan an extravagant affair, largely relying on email to collaborate on the wedding details. To make matters more difficult, the couple planned a North Carolina wedding from Florida. But with the help of Serendipity Events, they were able to turn what would be a stressful situation into a worry-free day. “There is no way our wedding day would have been as fabulous as it was without Carrie Ann and her team at Serendipity Events,” Stacy says. “Planning a wedding from six hours away was stressful even with help, but Carrie Ann really made it all possible. I hear of so many brides being a stressed-out, nervous wreck the day of their wedding. I can honestly say that I didn't have a single ounce of worry that day. I was able to relax and just bask in the joy of the day!”Stacy and Fred were married in the church that Stacy grew up attending. They wanted an elegant wedding with a very classic feel. “Trends come and go,” Stacy says, “but we wanted the day we joined our lives together to be timeless and long-lasting.”Stacy walked down the aisle in a dress from New York Bride & Groom. She spent hours trying on dresses in practically every bridal store in Jacksonville, Fla. Needless to say, Stacy was less than enthusiastic about trying on more dresses when she stopped in New York Bride & Groom. However, she says, “The ladies there made it a very enjoyable experience.” Her sister suggested a dress for her to try on. “My sister and I had gone dress shopping, and she immediately wanted me to try a dress on. I never would have picked it myself because the skirt looked so big on the hanger, but it was perfect. I couldn't have done a better job myself!”Entertainment at the reception was provided by Split Second Sound. The evening was captured by Project:Life Photography, and Stacy appreciated their style. “I can't say enough about how wonderful they were. Having met with them only once in person, there was definitely the potential to feel a little awkward, having someone you barely know following you around with a camera all day. Not once did I feel awkward or rushed. They were so laid back while still being professional – it helped set the tone for the day.”The traditional wedding went off without a hitch, and Stacy and Fred were very happy with the entire event. Still, Stacy says, the best part of the day was the moment they were pronounced husband and wife. “Thinking about it now puts a smile on both our faces!”
