Summer Love

In the summer of 2008, Ashley Childs and Austin Ramsey both served as interns at a Young Life camp in New York. With strong faith and a passion for sharing that faith with others, the two were drawn to each other; Ashley noticed the way he was confident yet humble and appreciated how seriously he treated the concept of dating. When the summer drew to a close, a last-minute change in travel plans allowed the two of them to share a 12-hour road trip, with Ashley thinking all the while that she would never see him again. But Austin had bigger plans in store, inviting her the very next day to spend Labor Day Weekend with his family. A long-distance courtship began, and three years later Austin proposed. They shared a prayer before calling their friends and family, celebrating the occasion with an intimate, serious moment as well as tremendous excitement. For their wedding day, they chose to set up the ceremony like a worship service, with communion and an enclosed arrangement to keep the gathering close. At the reception, they brought together sophistication and country, along with playful touches like Mad Lib guest cards.Ashley and Austin continue to build their friendship as the faith-based foundation of the marriage. Ashley says, “It’s really beautiful to see how God loves us through marriage.”
