Southern Fairy Tale

When Brandy Caskey arrived at boyfriend Aaron Reed’s house, she found a note telling her to “follow the arrows.” Aaron had made a treasure map for her and each clue led to a location that was significant to their relationship. Their last stop was the bridge in Waxhaw, and it was there that Aaron proposed to Brandy. “We want to eventually settle down in Waxhaw, so he chose a place we can always go back to and visit,” she says.A year later, the couple celebrated with a traditional Southern wedding. “I’ve always wanted an outdoor wedding and to capture that Southern fairy-tale feel,” says Brandy. “When we found The Saratoga Springs, it had everything we had envisioned.” To complete the look, the couple incorporated rustic lanterns, Mason jars, hydrangeas, and burlap runners. Even the photo booth from Apothecary Photobooths had three vintage doors for the backdrop. One of the priorities for Brandy and Aaron was telling their story and incorporating family heirlooms. “We used his dad’s Bible for the ring bearer instead of a pillow,” she says. “I also wore my great grandmother’s old ruby ring and put my grandmother’s ruby heart pin on my bouquet.” When Aaron and Brandy found Julia Laible Photography, they knew they’d found the right visual storyteller to help them start their journey. “Julia really captured our love story like no one else could have,” says Brandy. “She really wanted us to get what we wanted, and she did everything she could to make sure we did.”The best moment of the day? The aisle, plain and simple. “Words can’t explain the emotions of happiness, joy, and love that I had,” she says. “Seeing that it was all real was the best moment of the entire wedding.”
