No one truly expects to meet his or her soul mate at a nightclub, but such was the case for Harold Sublett and Nichelle Wynn, who first met at the Sunset Club in Charlotte in July 2010. Like something written into a movie script, the two chatted and felt a connection, but failed to exchange contact information. Thinking back on the night Nichelle says, “I wasn’t worried. I had a feeling I’d see him again.” Nichelle’s intuition was right—the next day the two spotted each other at a pool party, where they spent over three hours talking and getting to know each other. The couple’s movie-worthy meeting led a to a three-year courtship, which culminated in a wedding that, much like their initial meeting, was fit for the storybooks.

Nichelle envisioned an elegant, timeless wedding that would incorporate their families as much as possible. The bride walked down the same aisle on the same day as her aunt had 40 years prior. Even with tradition in the forefront, however, the couple also embraced the newer trend of an ‘unplugged wedding.’ “My favorite part of the entire wedding was definitely the ceremony,” says Nichelle. “We asked everyone to have their cell phones on silent and asked that they take no photos. It was so quiet and still; the sanctity of it could really be felt.”

At the reception, family and friends took center stage—literally! The entrance featured a decorated table with old photos of from their grandparents’ weddings, and the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and the bride’s parents got the party started with choreographed dances to tunes like Beyonce’s “Love on Top” and the Motown classic, “My Girl.”

“The reception was amazing everything just came together,” says Nichelle. “I really loved the moment when Harold and I came out and were introduced as husband and wife. Michael Jackson’s ‘Don’t Stop’ was playing and I just felt this awesome energy. All these people were clapping and cheering for us. So much love and energy.”
