In Favor

Wedding favors are a way to thank your guests for traveling to and attending your wedding, and for showering you with gifts. The options are endless as long as your budget is able to cover the cost.

A very common favor is personalized koozies. You can have these made at a number of places and get just about anything on them. Clever ideas: “What a catch” for a couple who loves to fish; “All you need is love”; “Eat, drink, and be married.”

Some of my favorite ideas when I was planning my own wedding were match boxes that said “Perfect Match” or tiny mints with “Mint to be” on the tin. We also considered mini jars of honey or jam with personalized labels.

Practical ideas are plastic cups, glasses or champagne flutes that have your monogram and wedding date on them. Your guests can use these for years to come and will think of you when they do!

Photo booths have become increasingly popular and allow guests to take home fun photos from the wedding, as well as leaving a copy for the bride and groom. Guests love dressing up with props and signs and taking group photos. This can double as a guest book idea if you have the photo booth print two copies, paste one in the book and have your guests sign by their photo.

Since DIY adds a personal touch you could easily make something special for your guests (assuming you’ve allotted time for this in your wedding planning). At one wedding, we received a favorite cocktail recipe of the bride and groom tied to mini bottles of Kentucky Bourbon. At another wedding, we were given “treat bags” to take home some of the delicious mini desserts that were served.

No matter what favor you have, your guests will love it and will be appreciative. Adding a personal touch to the favor can only make it more memorable.
