Elise Getter knew Jeremy Kowalski was “The One” as soon as she introduced him to her son. Though Luke was only two years old at the time, there was an immediate connection. “It was so neat to see how they just thrived around each other,” says Elise. After 16 months of dating, Jeremy made it official with a proposal at their first date spot, Bistro La Bon, and his new fiancée dove headfirst into wedding planning.
As Elise flipped through magazines for ideas, she noticed a common theme among the images that caught her eye: lots of flowers, and lots of pink! She immediately turned to Dina Berg Blazek Events, who took her inspiration and created an evening straight out of a fairy tale.
“We wanted elements of an outdoor wedding without the risk of bad weather,” says Elise. The solution? Draping the entire Ritz-Carlton ballroom in swaths of fabric to create an indoor tent. To get inside the tent, guests walked through a dark tunnel that opened up into thousands of flowers bathed in soft, pink light. The effect was breathtaking. “Everyone’s jaws literally dropped,” says Elise. Every surface was covered in roses, lilies, orchids, and hydrangeas in varying shades of pink and cream. Candlelight danced off crystal votives and chandeliers. Drapes pulled back to reveal a 50s-style sweet shop with checkered floors and vintage barstools, where guests could receive their choice of candies and ice creams.
The best part of the evening for Elise and Jeremy was when they stole away privately to see ballroom for the first time. There, in the midst of their very own wonderland, they practiced their first dance and soaked in all the details. Reflecting back on the moment, Elise only has two words: “Pure magic.”
