Bon Voyage

During six years of courtship for Katie Williams and Adam Mullis, travel was always a priority for the pair. So when Adam popped the question over Christmastime, with about a year and a half to plan for a spring wedding, a destination, island wedding was a “no-brainer.” Hoping to share their sense of adventure with family and friends, they kept the wedding venue a secret, simply inviting guests to celebrate ‘5 o’clock somewhere’ and providing travel arrangement information. When the bus pulled up to cliff-side estate Villa Belle Etoile on the French side of St. Martin, the breathtaking view set the tone for the “beach glamour” soiree to come. With succulent seafood prepared in a French style by the villa’s private chef, a steel drum band, and a local DJ to create an unforgettable experience, it’s almost hard to believe that the welcome party the previous day provided some of the favorite moments of the trip. The couple provided a catamaran tour of the whole island for the party’s 50 guests, with snorkeling and beach excursions throughout the day. “Adam did a champagne toast at sunset on the way back in and got choked up thanking everybody,” says Katie. “It was the moment we realized that all those people loved us and were there for us We did that trip for them, and it was an unbelievable day for everyone.”
