When I think about what drew me into wedding planning, I think about the details that tell the bride and groom’s story. Whether it’s an entrée from their first date, tables named after their travels, or a favorite snack incorporated into the midnight menu, I love how a couple showcases their life together. This weekend, I shadowed a wedding that told their story so creatively that I’ll never forget it!
Bill and Brandy met because of their shared love of acting, so when it came time to plan their wedding, they knew they wanted to include that passion in the day. The couple hosted their ceremony and reception at the DoubleTree Suites in SouthPark. The ceremony was beautiful, with plenty of sweet and personal touches added to the lineup (this blogger’s personal favorite was the Star Wars music for the groom’s entrance).
It was right before dinner when the bride and groom’s love of acting emerged. The couple planned an hour of live entertainment, which included two acts by the newlyweds and a selection of performances by their loved ones. It was the most creative wedding I’ve ever seen, and not just because the acts were brilliant. Through the performances we experienced the mutual passion that brought them together and the talents of friends they cherished, all while being highly entertained. It was an amazing way to celebrate their relationship and host an unforgettable wedding.
From a planner-in-training’s perspective, the performances were a fun twist that I hope to see more of in the future. And as always, it was a great learning experience. Each wedding I shadow teaches me something new about helping the newlyweds. Sometimes it will take more than bustling a dress or arranging a centerpiece to bring a couple’s vision to life. Saturday, it was assisting with the pre-show timeline and making sure everything was ready for their costume changes. I’m thrilled to say the wedding went smoothly, and despite my small role in the day, it felt amazing to be a part of the celebration.
Congratulations again Bill and Brandy!
