Samuel Detweiler was the first person to speak to Stephanie Westlake at their church’s singles bible study group. “I thought he was super cute,” says Stephanie. “He was also so kind and easy to talk to all the time—a complete gentleman.” The two became friends quickly and soon fell in love. After dating for six months, Samuel proposed to Stephanie on her birthday.
Stephanie, a pastry chef and crafting enthusiast, baked the wedding cake (complemented by pies made by the groom’s mother) and spent hours on Pinterest finding inspiration for the wedding. “I knew that no one would be able to put together exactly what I was looking for,” says Stephanie. So, with Sam’s help, the couple crafted almost every piece of décor from centerpieces to flower bouquets for their rustic fete.
“We decided early on that we were not going to stress about the wedding,” says Stephanie. “We took on a little project every day over the 10 months and once wedding week came, our family pitched in and helped create the perfect day.”
