The Charity League of Charlotte’s annual Fashion Show and Silent Auction Luncheon sells out every year. The 34th event, on March 26 at Carmel Country Club, was packed with women who came to bid on the more than 250 silent auction items.
As everyone was seated for the luncheon and fashion show, the league’s president, Nanine Hartzenbusch Fox, emphasized why the league puts so much effort into its fundraisers. “Last year, we were able to help 13,000 children because of today’s event, sales of our Carolina Sunshine cookbook, the official cookbook of Charlotte, and our Showcase of Artisans.” (The 2015 Showcase of Artisans is scheduled for Nov. 14 at St. Gabriel Catholic School.)
For the fourth year, WSOC-TV anchor Natalie Pasquarella was emcee for the fashion show. “This is one of my favorite events,” she said. The models were league members or friends or family of members. Women showed off fashions from Talbots at Specialty Shops on the Park; children wore clothes from the Vineyard Vines store at SouthPark mall. Tammy Schumacher and her crew from Carmen! Carmen! salon at Belk, and Rachel Bennett and fellow makeup artists from the Laura Mercier counter at Belk all did an outstanding job.
