Tension, happiness and a lot of hurry-up-and-wait prevailed Sunday as more than 100 men and women answered a model call for a runway show slated for August at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art.
Models lined up quietly wearing numbers at Label House at the NC Music Factory, then worked their way forward: First the main area. Then a dark hallway where headshots were made. Then, finally, to a long backroom bar area where a group saw them one by one. About a dozen models sat at the entrance and watched before they got their chances.
The lucky ones made the long walk to and from the judges more than once, and got a chance to answer questions. Some showed portfolio photos. At least one male model was asked to take off his shirt to show his physique.
Then it was a quick exit out a side door.
Apparel for the show, titled Fashion D’Lux, will come from Nordstrom, Porsche Design and Saks Off Fifth. The show benefits The Possibility Project of Charlotte.
