How to look your summery best

Summer is here, and with it comes the blistering Carolina heat and humidity we love – sometimes.

It's hard to look cool and composed when your makeup is sliding off your face. How can you stop the makeup mudslide?

Start with a good base, says Lynn Furge, Becca cosmetics national artist. Be sure to read labels and go as natural as possible.

Furge will be in town Friday and Saturday at Potion boutiques in Huntersville and south Charlotte.

A good oil-free, non-silicone primer is a good place to start, Furge says.

“Silicone is great, because that's what it does – it fills. …but if you're living your daily life and you've got silicone all over your face, it'll clog your pores.”

Sun protection should be part of the regimen, too, she says.

BECCA's Mineral SPF 30 primer “gives you a bit of a glow, but it dries down to a matte finish,” she says. “You can wear it as your high-end Coppertone, it's OK for kids, husbands... and it does make your makeup last longer.” Style Editor Rachel Sutherland
