P&G campaign stops in Charlotte

The Procter & Gamble “My Black is Beautiful” tour pulls in to Charlotte Saturday to celebrate African American beauty in all its manifestations. The free event, hosted by actress Tasha Smith, features free makeovers, gifts, a fashion show, music from Kindred the Family Soul and discussions. Find P&G lines such as Pantene Relaxed & Natural, CoverGirl Queen, Olay Definity at the event. The “Beautiful” campaign debuted in 2007. The tour launched in Chicago in June, and has stopped in New Orleans and Atlanta.

Local Honors WSOC-TV anchor Erica Bryant, Charlotte Bobcats executive LaRita Luster Barber and Wachovia's Emma Allen will be honored by P&G on Friday during a VIP reception at the Westin.

Movie Screening Kiri Davis' seven-minute documentary “A Girl Like Me,” which addresses the standards of beauty imposed on today's black girls, will be shown during the event.

Want to model? Pantene will sponsor a search for models for its hair care line. It doesn't matter how you wear your hair – relaxed, in a 'fro, dreadlocked, twisted or straightened. If you're proud of your hair and want to show it off, you can register for the search. Registration begins at 11 a.m.
