Get tips from ‘What Not to Wear' host

If you make the time to brush your teeth, you can make the time to be stylish, Clinton Kelly says.

“You can do it by shifting your priorities,” says the co-host of TLC's “What Not to Wear,” who will be at Macy's SouthPark on Saturday. “It's a lot easier to not balance your checkbook, too. If you can make time for other things in your life, there's no reason you can't make room for being stylish.”

During his appearance in Charlotte, Kelly says he will address finding your personal style, something he and co-host Stacy London tackled with WLNK-FM radio personality Matt Harris during his 2001 appearance on their show.

Be true to yourself and identify what kind of image you'd like to project: Are you classic? Sexy? Modern? Trendy? Regardless of style, modern wardrobes need to have a firm base of classic, high-quality pieces, he says.

“You need to go in knowing how things fit you,” he said by phone from New York City recently. “You can't have a style if you don't have fit.”

Kelly, whose new book “Freakin' Fabulous: How to Dress, Behave, Speak, Drink, Eat, Entertain, Decorate, and Generally be Better Than Everyone Else" will be in stores Oct. 7, says following his own advice has paid off and now he wants to share.

“I want to spread fabulousness around the world,” he says with a laugh. “Quite frankly, I'm just as fabulous as I've always wanted to be.”
