Flip Your Gift: Did you receive a holiday gift that was nice but not exactly right for you? Gift expert Simone McDowell of HoneeBee Gifts hosts her third annual Flip Your Gift Party 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Hydrate Medical, 228 East Blvd. Attendees can exchange a similarly priced gift ($10 or more) that better fits their style. McDowell has put together a limited number of gift bags filled with things from area businesses (the bags cost $10 but have more than $40 worth of items, she says). Local boutiques will have pop-up shops to showcase clothes, jewelry, candles and more. Mimosas, light hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served. It’s free to attend. RSVP to www.flipyourgift.eventbrite.com.

Polished Nail Bar: As part of its #StayPolishedIn2015 campaign, Polished is giving away a year’s worth of manicures and pedicures. The winner will receive two gift certificates each month, for a manicure and pedicure. Enter at www.iPolished.com. No purchase necessary. Participants must be at least 16. Polished Nail Bar has locations in South End, Myers Park, SouthPark and Ballantyne.

Braid Bar: The beauty bar Gorgeous GLO has added braid bar services to their menu. Named the “new blow dry bar” by Allure Magazine, braid bars are becoming more popular across the country. The Braid Bar is available at all three Gorgeous GLO locations (Myers Park, SouthPark and Lake Norman) and includes elaborate custom braiding as well as fishtail and up-do braids. The service is not limited to a set menu. Instead, a stylist will work individually with clients for unique styles. Details: www.GorgeousGlo.com.
