I wondered if Bad Dog Burgers & Brew would be the type of place where I'd need a leather jacket or a cigarette to blend in. Turns out all I needed was a fistful of napkins to stem the stream of juices flowing down my fingers from the burgers and chicken sandwiches.
Thankfully, big burgers and chicken sandwiches don't translate into big prices. Bad Dog is kind on the wallet, which is always a good thing.
I liked the oversize booths. You and five of your closest buds could easily fit into one and nosh on nachos while catching a game. But a heads-up: The dining room is a tad on the smoky side. If you desire less smoke or if catching a game on one of the many TVs is not a priority, you can watch the swans glide by from the patio.
I appreciated everything about the Black & Bleu Burger, especially the two nicely charred patties topped by a generous amount of blue cheese.
My one complaint about the Loaded Chicken Sandwich was that it didn't have the same kind of in-your-face flavor the burger had. All of the ingredients (green peppers, mushrooms, sautéed onions, Swiss cheese) were mellow in flavor. But kudos to the kitchen for cooking the chicken breast perfectly.
Sloppy Dog Nachos were between the burger and chicken in terms of flavor. Crisp yet sturdy chips were piled with chili, chopped tomatoes, jalapenos and cheese sauce.
Also on the menu: hot dogs with an array of toppings, a hefty list of appetizers and a handful of salads.
The total for our two entrees and one appetizer that was big enough to be an entrée came to $28.62, including tax and tip.
