Bobby Deen to visit Charlotte

Promoting his new cookbook, “Everyday Eats,” Bobby Deen will appear at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Carolina Place Barnes & Noble, 11025 Carolina Place, Pineville. “Everyday Eats” – which went on sale Feb. 11 – features 120 recipes, all under 350 calories, which can be ready in less than 30 minutes. Deen will speak about the book, followed by a book signing.

Free Chick-fil-A breakfast Thursdays

Charlotte Wine and Food Weekend

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Charlotte Wine and Food Weekend will be April 22-26. More than 30 events will be held, and tickets, which are on sale now, range from $35 to $375. Battle of the Bones winner

Charlotte native Michael Collins, 30, won a permanent spot on Wild Wing Cafe’s menu with his “Honey Lime Sriracha” wing sauce. The winning flavor beat out seven other finalists during a 7-week bracket-style elimination. Collins – who recently began working as an assistant chef at the Hominy Grill in Charleston – won $5,000. The new flavor will be added to the menu at every Wild Wing location across the country.

Harris Teeter TIE donations

As part of Harris Teeter’s 10-week “Together in Education” $100,000 giveaway, the Parada family of Charlotte was the Week 2 winner. The Paradas won $5,000 for the number of Harris Teeter brand products in their home, as well as $5,000 for South Mecklenburg High School Lacrosse. Contest details:
