Sip of the week

CAVU Blonde Ale, NoDa Brewing, Charlotte

$13 to fill a 64-ounce growler (plus $6 for the growler itself).

NoDa Brewing’s newest is an acronym for “Ceiling and Visibility Unlimited,” a term co-founder Todd Ford knew from his previous life as a pilot. It indicates perfect flying weather, but could just as easily refer to a beautiful day with this refreshing beer in hand. CAVU is brewed with wheat, pilsner malt and tropical Mosaichops, resulting in light body and soft fruitiness. It’s easy-drinking and will make a perfect “lawn-mower beer” when cans arrive in a couple of months. Until then, pick up a growler from the taproom or try it at area bars. Daniel Hartis
